About Jack’s Crackers
It started as a plate.
At a cooking competition at Monadnock Oil & Vinegar, we were handed a bag of ingredients and asked to make a dish. Ours included chili oil and pasta. We needed something to serve it on, so we made one large Red Wine Cracker and used it as the plate.
The dish took second place to a really good dessert. But one judge took every cracker we had left.
The cracker people wanted.
The cracker was meant to support the competition entry. Instead, it became the part people remembered.
That was the beginning of Jack’s Crackers. We founded the company in 2016, starting with the same flavor we made for the competition: Red Wine Crackers.
The plate idea never left.
We still think a cracker’s job is to make the food around it better. It should have enough character to hold its own, then leave room for cheese, jam, soup, smoked fish, or whatever you feel like trying next.
The cracker is the foundation. What you build on it is the point.
Made in Keene, by hand.
Today we make our crackers in small batches in Keene, New Hampshire. They are hand cut, slow baked, and made with natural, GMO-free ingredients—no artificial ingredients and no preservatives.
The process is practical. It gives us the texture and flavor we want, and leaves plenty of room for whatever goes on top.
Good food is something you can learn.
You do not need special training to put together a plate that works. Pay attention to what you like. Try a quiet cracker under a strong topping. Put something sweet next to something salty. Taste it twice.
We make the crackers. We also like helping people figure out what to do with them.
The management team has fur.
Jack, Matilda, and Hattie were a sibling set from the Monadnock Humane Society who adopted us. Soon after, they took over the house and our lives. Since the cats were already running the household, we figured they might as well run the business too.
We named the company for Jack. Guys do like to think they are in charge.
Really, Truly, Hand Made.
Now, what shall we put on them?
