Recipes, pairings, and kitchen stories
Recipes worth gathering around
Some of these recipes begin with Jack’s Crackers. Others are dishes we’ve made, liked, and want to share—with credit to the cooks who created them. If you need something simpler, Quick Ideas will get a cracker onto the table without turning it into a project.
Start with the crackers
Three recipes where the cracker is part of the point—not an afterthought.

Smoky Meatballs
Buttermilk Bacon Crackers bring smoke, seasoning, and a little texture to these meatballs. They’re made for a generous pot of sauce and the kind of meal that doesn’t need much fuss around it.

Chocolate Goodness
A rich chocolate spread made to meet a crisp cracker. It’s a real recipe, not just a passing suggestion, though the idea is simple enough to borrow whenever dessert needs to be easy.
Serve with White Wine Crackers, Graham Crackers, Chocolate Graham Crackers, or Lavender Rosemary Crackers.

A very good hummus for the cracker board
Smooth hummus gives a cracker board something substantial without making it heavy. We make Kathryne Taylor’s version and set it out with Red Wine Crackers, Garlic Herb Crackers, White Wine Crackers, Buttermilk Bacon Crackers, or Tomato Basil Crackers.

More things we’ve made
Not every good thing from our kitchen begins with a cracker. This smaller collection keeps the recipes and stories we still want people to find.

Improvisational Potatoes with Apple, Peach, and Cilantro
A make-do dinner that became worth remembering: potatoes, fruit, cilantro, and the pleasure of trusting what’s already in the kitchen.

Cantaloupe, Snap Pea, and Romano Salad
Sweet melon, crisp snap peas, and salty cheese make a summer salad with real contrast.
Recipe by Anna Stockwell at Bon Appétit.

Grilled Nectarine with Honey Butter Vanilla Sauce and Ice Cream
Warm fruit, cold ice cream, and a sauce that leans into the nectarine instead of covering it up.
Jack’s original recipe.
Random Acts of Pastry
A dated archive from our 2020 COVID-era community baking project—nine stories about learning pastry, sharing what came out of the oven, and recognizing people doing good work when the world had gone sideways.
The stories stay in the order they happened. Dates carry the chronology; the two historical “#5” titles no longer have to explain it.
Quick Ideas
Need less of a recipe?
Quick Ideas are the shortest route from an open box of crackers to something good on the table. Chocolate Goodness is a proper little recipe, but the idea is wonderfully simple: something crisp, something chocolate, and no need to make dessert fussy.
Pairings
Looking for the right match?
Start with the cracker flavor, then find cheeses, spreads, drinks, and other pairings that make sense with it.
Our credit rule: When a recipe isn’t ours, we credit its creator and link to the original instructions. The notes here are ours: what we made, how we served it, and where Jack’s Crackers fit.
